So, I would imagine, like many other people, you have wondered what this Google algorithm thing really is. You are probably wondering how it decides which page will get listed as #1 and which will follow along after that. The basics of an algorithm is to compare something against a set of standards and then assign it a score. They have an algorithm for this and you get a score based on the number of, and quality of, the links that point at your site. PageRank is named after Larry Page, one of the founders of Google. The official word is that it “assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents”.
